Waffle





Chocolate Waffles

Just one of my favorite yummy treats!

Ingredients (Kitchen-Friendly)


Ingredients (Metric)

1 c flour

140 g flour

3/4 c sugar

150 g sugar

1/2 c cocoa

40 g cocoa

1 Tbsp D.D. Williamson
Caramel Color Powder

6 g D.D. Williamson
Caramel Color Powder

1/2 tsp baking powder

1.5 g baking powder

1/2 tsp baking soda

2.5 g baking soda

1/4 tsp salt

1.5 g salt

1 c buttermilk

240 ml buttermilk

2 eggs

108 g egg

1/4 c margarine, melted

55 g margarine, melted

directions:

  1. Combine the dry ingredients.
  2. Add the buttermilk and eggs.
  3. Mix until just blended.
  4. Gradually, add the melted margarine.
  5. Cook on waffle iron according to the manufacturer’s directions.

Tips:

  • For an extra special chocolate waffle treat, add a cup or so of mini chocolate chips (semi-sweet taste really good) to the batter before cooking.
  • The waffles can be topped with powdered sugar or drizzled with syrup.
  • If you don’t have any buttermilk on hand, then you can make your own by taking a tablespoon of lemon juice (or vinegar) and fill to the 1 cup mark with milk.
