Just one of my favorite yummy treats! Ingredients (Kitchen-Friendly) | | Ingredients (Metric) |
1 c flour | 140 g flour | |
3/4 c sugar | 150 g sugar | |
1/2 c cocoa | 40 g cocoa | |
1 Tbsp D.D. Williamson
| 6 g D.D. Williamson
| |
1/2 tsp baking powder | 1.5 g baking powder
1/2 tsp baking soda | 2.5 g baking soda
1/4 tsp salt | 1.5 g salt | |
1 c buttermilk | 240 ml buttermilk
2 eggs | 108 g egg | |
1/4 c margarine, melted | 55 g margarine, melted |
directions:
- Combine the dry ingredients.
- Add the buttermilk and eggs.
- Mix until just blended.
- Gradually, add the melted margarine.
- Cook on waffle iron according to the manufacturer’s directions.
Tips:
- For an extra special chocolate waffle treat, add a cup or so of mini chocolate chips (semi-sweet taste really good) to the batter before cooking.
- The waffles can be topped with powdered sugar or drizzled with syrup.
- If you don’t have any buttermilk on hand, then you can make your own by taking a tablespoon of lemon juice (or vinegar) and fill to the 1 cup mark with milk.
